The talks between the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) and thr Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelaam (LTTE) is another landmark event in the long history of the separatist conflict in Sri Lanka. It took place on the fourth anniversary of the signing of the Ceasefir Agreement (CFA) in 2002. After the initial signing of the CFA a round of negotiations took place in various Asian destinations notably Thailand and Janpan. These negotiations were abortive and were cut off in 2003.
