A slit or narrow opening, especially one for receiving something, as a coin or a letter. Also: a position in a series or sequence: His TV show was scheduled for the eight-o’clock slot.
An opening in a machine into which coins can be inserted, to trigger an operation. Modern slot machines use a digital random number generator to produce the game results, instead of using mechanical operations based on the rotation of reels.
In a slot machine, a pay table lists the pay-out amounts for matching symbols on the pay line. Historically, these were poker symbols (ace, king, queen, and jack) but Charles Fey’s invention in 1887 used diamonds, spades, horseshoes, hearts, and Liberty bells. Fey’s design allowed for automatic payouts and included three reels, making it much easier to win than earlier machines.
A slot can have a fixed – or flexible – number of pay lines. Having more pay lines increases your chances of winning, but also raises the cost per spin. Some slots offer a single payline, while others have up to 100.
You can add synonyms to slot type values so that Dialog Engine can recognize different words and phrases for the same entity value. To do so, select the Allow Synonyms checkbox next to the slot type value and then click the Enter Synonym field and enter the alternate word or phrase. You can also delete existing synonyms by hovering over the name and clicking the X that appears.
